American and British Airways to coordinate frequent flyer
    Paris Guardian
    Friday 3rd September, 2010

American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia have been discussing how they will work together now that European regulators have allowed them to integrate.

American, British Airways and Iberia, whose joint business agreement was approved by US and European regulators last month, will start their integration process with frequent-flyer programs.

According to AA, frequent-flyer programs across the Atlantic should be coordinated by October.

Although the carriers are all members of the Oneworld alliance, they were unable to coordinate their systems due to antitrust regulations, which have now been lifted.

At present, miles earned on American can’t be used on British Airways.

If they are earned on Iberia, they can’t be used on AA.
